Which Oil Types Does Sterling Quick Lube Carry?
Sterling Quick Lube stocks four grades of Castrol motor oil. The right one depends on what your manufacturer specifies and how many miles are on the engine.
| Oil type | Best suited to | Typical change interval |
|---|---|---|
| Conventional | Older, simpler engines that do not require synthetic | 3,000 to 5,000 miles |
| Synthetic blend | Daily drivers, trucks and occasional towing | 5,000 to 7,500 miles |
| Full synthetic | Modern, turbocharged and European engines | 7,500 to 10,000 miles |
| High mileage | Engines past roughly 75,000 miles that seep or burn oil | Follow your manual |
Every vehicle takes a different oil specification and a different number of quarts, and vehicles that hold more than five quarts are billed for the extra oil. We look all of that up and give you the exact total before we start. Call (586) 795-4084 for a quote on yours.

All of it happens during the same visit, so there is no second trip and no appointment.

Which Oil Does Your Car Actually Need?
Plenty of shops push whatever sits highest on the shelf. We think you should know the difference and pick for yourself.
Conventional oil
Refined crude oil with additives. It does the job well in older, simpler engines. Plan on changing it every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.
Synthetic blend
A mix of conventional and synthetic base oils. Better protection at high temperatures and under load than straight conventional. It is a sensible middle ground for daily drivers, trucks and anyone who tows occasionally.
Full synthetic
Engineered base oil with a uniform molecular structure. It resists breakdown at extreme temperatures, flows better on cold Michigan mornings, and keeps turbochargers and modern direct-injection engines far cleaner. It typically lasts 7,500 to 10,000 miles, so you're back less often. If your manufacturer requires full synthetic, use full synthetic. Running conventional in an engine that specifies synthetic can void warranty coverage.
High-mileage oil
Formulated with seal conditioners and extra detergents for engines past roughly 75,000 miles. If your car has started leaving small spots in the driveway or burning a little oil between changes, this is the one to ask about.
Not sure? Just ask.
Give us your year, make, model and mileage and we'll look up the manufacturer specification and tell you exactly what it takes, including how many quarts, so the total is never a surprise. Call (586) 795-4084 or send us a message.
Common Questions Before You Pull In
How do I find out what it'll cost for my car?
Call us at (586) 795-4084 with your year, make and model. We'll look up the oil your vehicle requires and how much of it, and quote you in under a minute. You'll also get the exact total at the bay before we start any work.
Do you charge to install filters or wipers?
No. You pay for the part only. Installation is free, and so is the inspection that tells you whether you need one in the first place.
What if my car takes more than 5 quarts?
Plenty of V6 and V8 engines do. Vehicles that hold more than five quarts are billed for the extra oil, We tell you your vehicle's capacity and the full total before we start, so it is never a surprise at the register.
Will you try to sell me things I don't need?
That's not how we stay in business on a street full of oil change shops. We inspect your filters and wipers free every visit and show you what we find. If they're fine, we say so.
Is the oil filter really included?
Yes. A new oil filter comes with your oil change on most vehicles. A small number of cars use a specialty or cartridge filter that costs a little extra, and we'll always quote that to you first.
What forms of payment do you take?
Cash, credit and debit. Give us a call at (586) 795-4084 if you have a question about payment or a fleet account.
Can I bring my own oil or filter?
Give us a call at (586) 795-4084 and we'll let you know what we can do for your specific vehicle.
